KTF and LG Telecom have separately completed talks with TU Media regarding a system for DMB use, with both KTF and LG Telecom expected to sign official agreements soon. With these agreements, KTF and LG Telecom subscribers would be able to make use of satellite DMB services, which are already available to SKT customers. In order to provide these services, KTF will introduce a Samsung satellite DMB handset in July, and in August and September it will introduce a similar handset from LG. LG Telecom will start selling Samsung and LG satellite DMB handsets in July and August.

 

According to industry data, at the end of June there were more than 75,800 satellite DMB users in Korea and this number is expected to increase rapidly once KTF and LG Telecom will have started these services as well.
